Gas Distribution testing is one of the most common uses in North America of the popular XP2i digital test gauge from Ametek-Crystal Engineering. Ametek-Crystal worked closely with numerous gas companies that have standardized on their equipment for low pressure measurement, and were instrumental in helping define the new calibration due alerts announced earlier this summer. While gas distribution takes place all over the world, some areas use absolute pressure rather than gauge pressure, ruling out the Ametek-Crystal equipment…until now.
We are pleased to announce that Ametek-Crystal is expanding their offering for absolute pressure XP2i gauges. Previously, the absolute pressure versions of the popular gauge were limited to 2000 psi and higher. Starting in October they are adding four new low-pressure ranges in bar, psi, and kPa. Available immediately are 10 bar, 30 bar, and 70 bar (and equivalent psi and kPa versions) gauges. All three are available in the standard 0.1% of reading version as well as the 0.02% and 0.05% of full scale versions. They will also include all standard XP2i features, optional data logging and full compatibility with FastCalXP. In addition to the three new ranges, they will be adding a 1.1 bar (16 psi, 110 kPa) absolute version in November.
The new absolute XP2i gauges will have applications in a wide variety of industries. These include:
- Sterilizers/Autoclaves – Pressure used to calculate the “kill factor”
- Chemicals – Many processes are controlled/measured in absolute pressure
- Pharmaceutical – Ingredients and processes
- Industrial Gases – Manufacturing and filling stations
- Food – Ingredients
- Petrochemicals – Refineries
- Power Plants – Measurement efficiency
- Refrigeration – Media pressure
